Kawika Veeka

Born and raised on the BEAUTIFUL Valley Isle, KawikaVeeka has been generating is own type of radio waves for over a decade now. Though he is of mixed ethnicity (Japanese, Portuguese, French, German, Hawaiian, & Dutch), he has been raised with an upbringing of “Aloha Aina” that has become his base in the appreciation of our paradise known as Maui.

Contrary to popular belief, he was never held back en route to graduating from Baldwin High School in 1999. Kawika was always named “Class Clown” and “Most Talkative” amongst his peers and teachers while growing up. It’s ironic that he has now applied those “talents” to the profession that has chosen him.

Proving to be an on-air force for Pacific Radio Group’s KPOA 93.5fm (Traditional Hawaiian) and Da Jam 98.3fm (Hip Hop), Kawika was given the task of bridging the two formats all the while making another impact in the Maui broadcasting scene with his true musical passion, Island Reggae, with Native 92.5fm. “It’s the middle ground between Hawaiian Island living and today’s cutting-edge, modern-day lifestyle. It’s who I am and I’m sure many of our productive adults on Maui want this reminder of what we know in music while having and enjoyable and positive vibe.”

When he’s not climbing the walls of the on-air and production studios, Kawika enjoys surfing, golfing, “holo holo”  (ssshhh…..fishing- whipping & dunking), and reigning over his competition in Podagee Horseshoes at backyard BBQ’s around the island. (Bring it! LOL!) He also enjoys bombing hills on his Carve Board, but is kind of traumatized after pretending he was surfing once and dove off his board head first onto the asphalt.

Kawika lives with this quote from President Franklin D. Roosevelt in mind:
“Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort.”

Kawika explains, “Taking the time to understand that quote puts you in the frame of mind to not only pursue your goals, but to do it in an amazingly unique and fun way.”

He’ll be keeping you on track with your morning routine, Monday through Friday from 6am-10am on the “Mahalo Morning Show” where spreading the vibe of thanks and praises launches your day in Hawaii Nei.

Kawika showing some box love!
